About this Project
The New Hampshire Army National Guard Regional Training Institute in Pembroke features an impressive array of facilities, including a large multipurpose area, simulation center, classrooms, auditorium, physical fitness center, and barracks for 136 men and women in training. To provide natural light to the space, Crystal Structures was contracted to supply 6 – 5′ x 5′ pyramid unit skylights.
Unit skylights are an effective and straightforward way to introduce natural light into various types of buildings. In the case of the New Hampshire Army National Guard Regional Training Institute, the pyramid-shaped unit skylights by Crystal Structures played a crucial role in achieving the desired daylighting effect.

The strategic placement of these skylights allows for an even distribution of natural light throughout the facility, enhancing the overall ambiance and reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. This not only creates a more pleasant environment for the officers and warrant officer candidates but also contributes to energy savings.
The incorporation of unit skylights was one of the key components that helped the Pembroke facility achieve LEED Silver status. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a widely recognized green building certification system that assesses the environmental performance of buildings.
By opting for Crystal Structures’ unit skylights, the New Hampshire Army National Guard demonstrated its commitment to sustainable design and construction practices. The natural daylight provided by these skylights reduces the building’s energy consumption and carbon footprint, aligning with LEED’s goals of promoting energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
