About this Project
Crystal Structure has completed the construction of solariums for two First & Main senior living centers located in New Albany and Lewis Center, Ohio. These solariums, designed to seamlessly integrate with the buildings’ architecture, provide residents with a warm and inviting space to enjoy the benefits of sunlight year-round.
First & Main is committed to redefining the concept of aging by developing senior living centers that promote a vibrant and independent lifestyle while providing necessary care. As part of their dedication to enhancing residents’ well-being, First & Main has incorporated solariums into each of their five facilities currently under development.

The solariums constructed by Crystal Structures for the New Albany and Lewis Center locations are identical in size, measuring 12′ x 21′, and feature a lean-to style design. The colors of the solariums have been carefully chosen to match the trim of each building, ensuring a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
The inclusion of solariums in senior living centers is crucial for the health and well-being of residents. Adequate sunlight exposure helps the body produce vitamin D, which is essential for maintaining bone health and preventing fractures. Sunlight also plays a vital role in regulating circadian rhythms, improving sleep cycles, boosting mood, and reducing the risk of cognitive decline. However, many seniors struggle to get enough sun exposure due to limited mobility, cold weather, or spending most of their time indoors.
By incorporating Crystal Structures’ solariums into their facilities, First & Main ensures that residents can enjoy the benefits of sunlight year-round, regardless of weather conditions. Spending just 15-30 minutes a day in the solarium can help residents meet their vitamin D requirements and experience the positive effects of sunlight on their physical and mental well-being.
