Marshalltown Tools

A previously vacant space functions as a spacious break room for staff.

About this Project

In 1890, Jesse and Lester Williams had a little shop in Iowa repairing bicycles and automobiles. Sometimes they would get tool orders for local contractors. As customers saw the tools, the word got out the Williams brothers were excellent at making quality tools for a variety of purposes. The business grew and in 1905 the brothers, together with their salesman incorporated to become Marshalltown Trowel Company.

Times have changed but Marshalltown is still going strong and today they are one of the largest tool manufacturers in the world, with locations in several states including Arkansas. Recently their manufacturing site in Fayetteville, AR received an upgrade with the addition of an impressive 960 square foot glazed structure from Crystal Structures.

This new glass room measures an expansive 40 feet across the front and 24 feet deep. It fills a previously vacant space within the company structure while also functioning as a spacious and sunny break room for staff. The sturdy structure is specially designed to withstand heavy regional snowfalls thanks to the expertise of our on-site construction team. It meets local building codes to offer maximum protection from the elements for occupants.

The installation allows abundant natural light to filter into the room, which research shows can increase productivity and boost morale for employees. The glass walls and roofing open up views and create a feeling of connection between indoor and outdoor spaces for a pleasant user experience. This structure demonstrates Crystal Structures’ capabilities in delivering customized glazed buildings tailored to clients’ needs and regional weather conditions.
