Wendy’s
A hometown favorite
The solarium has withstood the test of time, providing a unique and inviting dining space for generations of customers.
About this Project
Crystal Structures has been a leader in the commercial sloped glazing industry for decades. One of the projects that helped establish our reputation was the design and installation of unique curved eave solariums for Wendy’s and other restaurants.
Back in 1975, when Wendy’s was expanding its presence, they sought to create a distinctive dining experience. In the 1980s Crystal Structures collaborated with Wendy’s to develop a signature solarium design featuring a curved eave. The Wendy’s location at 555 S. Broadway in downtown Wichita was among the first to showcase this innovative architectural element.

Now, nearly 40 years later, the Crystal Structures solarium at the Wichita Wendy’s stands as a testament to the durability and longevity of our craftsmanship. The solarium has withstood the test of time, providing a unique and inviting dining space for generations of customers.
However, as architectural preferences evolve, Wendy’s is now updating its look to a more modern aesthetic. As a result, the iconic curved eave solariums are being removed as part of the restaurant’s reconstruction process.
While it’s bittersweet to see these solariums retired, we at Crystal Structures are proud of the role they played in shaping the dining experience at Wendy’s for so many years. As Wendy’s embarks on this new chapter, Crystal Structures continues to be a partner in their growth, providing the vertical glass for their updated, contemporary restaurant designs.
