About this Project
As a skylight renovation company, Crystal Structures was honored to restore the original 1927 skylight over the indoor swimming pool at the historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, VA. Over time, the original 57′ x 30′ skylight had become problematic. Our expert team installed a new energy-efficient skylight that allows the perfect amount of natural light into the grand indoor pool area.
The $85 million renovation of the Cavalier Hotel, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, brought this National Register of Historic Places property back to its original grandeur. The hotel has since won eight awards for the project, including a Stella Award from Northstar Meetings Group for Best Hotel Renovation in the Northeast and an Award of Merit for Renovation/Restoration from ENR Mid-Atlantic Magazine.
The skylight renovation over the swimming pool perfectly balances functionality and historic restoration. The new skylight bathes the pool in sunlight during the day and gives beautiful starry views at night, just as originally intended. Crystal Structures is proud to have our expert craftsmanship featured in such an iconic and award-winning historic renovation project. Our custom skylight solution contributed to reviving the Cavalier Hotel’s magnificent “first impression” for guests.
