About this Project
The students at Chariho Regional High School in Rhode Island have two state-of-the-art GrowTech greenhouses attached to their agriculture science classrooms. Designed by Crystal Structures and installed by Bacon Construction, these architectural-grade greenhouses provide an exceptional educational space no matter the climate zone.
Built to withstand mother nature, the greenhouses meet local building codes and are stronger than a typical greenhouse structure. As members of Future Farmers of America (FFA), the Chariho students utilize the greenhouses as a living laboratory to learn about agriculture, plant science, business concepts, and environmental systems.
Each year, the students host a community plant sale fundraiser in the high school greenhouses. Featuring vegetable starts, flowering plants, foliage, and container gardens, the sale supports the school’s FFA chapter. The built-in accessory rails, an exclusive Crystal Structures feature, allow hanging baskets to be displayed and sold.
The two greenhouses give students at Chariho High School the opportunity to apply classroom concepts through hands-on learning. They showcase how school greenhouses can be designed to specification and serve as exceptional educational spaces.
