Gordon County College and Career Academy

A vast transit canopy that welcomes students as they arrive

About this Project

The Gordon County College and Career Academy campus features a vast transit canopy that welcomes students as soon as they arrive. Manufactured by Crystal Structures, this impressive curved structure stretches 184 feet in length and reaches out 12 feet to provide much-needed shelter from the hot Georgia sun and any inclement weather.

Whether picking up or dropping off students, the canopy’s ample coverage allows for protected transit no matter the conditions outside. Its graceful curved design and sloped polycarbonate roofline offer shade while allowing natural light to filter through, keeping the area bright and airy. The canopy’s height easily accommodates buses, cars, and foot traffic passing underneath.

Since Gordon County College sees over 8,000 students annually across its six Georgia campuses, the sturdy canopy provides essential shelter for the continual flow of scholars coming and going from the Gordon County location. The covered drive-through area offers a welcome respite from the elements for this fifth-largest technical college in the state.

The Gordon County transit canopy is an example of Crystal Structures’ expertise in customized shelter and shade solutions. With decades of experience and innovative engineering capabilities, they create structures designed to withstand the specific environmental conditions of the installation site.
